  1. 1. Wells of Experience : A pastoral land-use history of Omaheke, Namibia

    Author : Karl-Johan Lindholm; Paul J. J. Sinclair; Thomas Elmqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Archaeology; Namibia; Kalahari; Omaheke; archaeology; wells; land-use history; pastoralism; Arkeologi;

    Abstract : The conventional view on the Kalahari in southern Africa expresses that the area is unsuitable for livestock herding. For this reason, it is argued that livestock herders avoided the Kalahari in the past and were only able to establish themselves in the later half of the twentieth century, when deep-reaching boreholes were introduced in the area. 2. 2. Sustainable Arsenic Mitigation A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access : A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access

    Author : Mohammed Hossain; Prosun Bhattacharya; Marinus Eric Donselaar; KTH; []

    Abstract : In rural Bangladesh, the drinking water supply is mostly dependent upon manually operated hand pumped tubewells, installed by the local community. The presence of natural arsenic (As) in groundwater and its wide scale occurrence has drastically reduced the safe water access across the country and put tens of millions of people under health risk. Abstract : In many countries over the world (including Sweden), metal toxicity in freshwater resources causes a severe drinking water quality problem and poses a threat to the environment and human health. Among the different toxic metals in the water resources of Sweden, arsenic and uranium are the biggest threats to health. READ MORE

  4. 4. Metabolic, methodological and developmental aspects of body composition : Studies in women and children with special reference to early life mechanisms behind childhood obesity
