  1. 1. Efficient Simulation of Wave Phenomena

    Author : Martin Almquist; Ken Mattsson; Gianluca Iaccarino; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; finite difference method; high-order accuracy; stability; summation by parts; simultaneous approximation term; quantum mechanics; Dirac equation; local time-stepping; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Abstract : Wave phenomena appear in many fields of science such as acoustics, geophysics, and quantum mechanics. They can often be described by partial differential equations (PDEs). As PDEs typically are too difficult to solve by hand, the only option is to compute approximate solutions by implementing numerical methods on computers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Extreme wave conditions and the impact on wave energy converters

    Author : Eirini Katsidoniotaki; Malin Göteman; Vincent Neary; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; extreme waves; wave energy converters; CFD; OpenFOAM; environmental contours; focused waves; breaking waves;

    Abstract : The amount of energy enclosed in ocean waves has been classified as one of the most promising renewable energy sources. Nowadays, different wave energy conversion (WEC) systems are being investigated, but only a few concepts have been operated in a sea environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. d-wave Josephson Junctions

    Author : Tobias Lindström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junctions; high-temperature superconductivity; Andreev states;

    Abstract : The properties of d-wave YBCO Josephson junctions and dc-SQUIDs with high misorientation angles have beenstudied experimentally .The predominant d-wave symmetry of the pairing wavefunction in high-Tc superconductors has, to a large extent, beena hinderance in applications, but it also makes it possible to fabricate devices with novel properties that may be suitablefor applications in the quantum regime; one particulary interesting property is a strong second harmonic component in the current-phase relation ofjunctions with the electrodes oriented in a node-lobe arrangement; so-called 0-45 junctions. 5. 5. Computational Solid Wave Propagation Numerical Techniques and Industrial Applications

    Author : Torbjörn Ekevid; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wave propagation; multigrid; adaptivity; parallel; FEM; iterative; SBFEM;

    Abstract : For wave propagation and many other physical phenomena, the dynamic effects are vital. In industrial applications, such problems are very complex and generally have to be treated by means of numerical methods. READ MORE
