  1. 21. Modelling and Quality Assessment of Atrial Fibrillatory Waves

    Author : Mikael Henriksson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ECG; signal processing; atrial fibrillation; signal quality; catheter ablation; atrial fibrillatory waves; f-waves;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis revolves around the analysis of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals during atrial fibrillation (AF). Special emphasis is put on the atrial fibrillatory waves, sometimes called the f-waves, which is the ECG component reflecting the electrical activity of the atria. READ MORE

  2. 22. Probabilistic Assessment of the Risk of Cargo Shifting Onboard Ships in Waves

    Author : Anna Ryrfeldt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ship roll; cargo shifting; probabilistic model; waves; ship dynamics; risk;

    Abstract : This thesis is the result of work within the research project "Probabilistic Models for Ship Safety in Rough Seas". One major danger in sea transportation is the shifting of cargo. The aim of the project has been to develop a methodology for assessing the risk of cargo shifting as well as performing some case studies. READ MORE

  3. 23. Tidally generated internal waves

    Author : Saeed Falahat; Jonas Nycander; Sonya Legg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tidally generated internal waves in the deep ocean; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the internal tide in the deep ocean, which is generated by the barotropic tide flowing over the bottom topography. The energy flux from the barotropic tide to the internal-wave field at the bottom is calculated using a method based on linear-wave theory and the traditional WKB approximation valid for a slowing varying vertical stratification. 4. 24. Wave Loads and Peak Forces on Moored Wave Energy Devices in Tsunamis and Extreme Waves

    Author : Linnea Sjökvist; Malin Göteman; Mats Leijon; Peter Stansby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OpenFOAM; CFD; Wave power; Tsunami waves; Extreme waves; Offshore; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : Surface gravity waves carry enormous amounts of energy over our oceans, and if their energy could be harvested to generate electricity, it could make a significant contribution to the worlds power demand. But the survivability of wave energy devices in harsh operating conditions has proven challenging, and for wave energy to be a possibility, peak forces during storms and extreme waves must be studied and the devices behaviour understood. 5. 25. Drift Waves in General Toroidal Equilibria

    Author : Johan Anderson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion plasmas; instabilities; toroidal geometry; drift waves;

    Abstract : One of the main concerns in fusion research is to understand the anomalously high transport in magnetically confined plasmas. In recent years, substantial progress in the understanding of transport in terms of drift waves in fusion plasmas has been achieved. READ MORE
