21. Fermentation Inhibitors in the Production of Bio-ethanol: Detoxification of Lignocellulose Hydrolyzates and Physiological Effects of Furfural on Yeast
Abstract : Different strategies to overcome inhibitor problems in the production of bio-ethanol from lignocellulose hydrolyzates with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae were examined. The strategies included detoxification prior to fermentation and in situ detoxification of furfural. A strain development for improved inhibitor tolerance was also initiated. READ MORE

Abstract : T2D is the most widespread endocrine disease. In conventional stimulus secretion coupling increased blood glucose is metabolized causing an increased intracellular level of ATP and closure of the KATP channels, and this, in turn, depolarizes the cell membrane leading to the opening of voltage-gated Ca2+ channels, the influx of Ca2+ and exocytosis of insulin granules.
