1. Quantum Chemical Studies of Radical Cation Rearrangement, Radical Carbonylation, and Homolytic Substitution Reactions
Abstract : Quantum chemical calculations have been performed to investigate radical cation rearrangement, radical carbonylation, and homolytic substitution reactions of organic molecules. The rearrangement of the bicyclopropylidiene radical cation to the tetramethyleneethane radical cation is predicted to proceed with stepwise disrotatory opening of the two rings. READ MORE

2. One-dimensional theory of the quantum Hall system
Abstract : The quantum Hall (QH) system---cold electrons in two dimensions in a perpendicular magnetic field---is a striking example of a system where unexpected phenomena emerge at low energies. The low-energy physics of this system is effectively one-dimensional due to the magnetic field. READ MORE

3. Limit theorems for generalizations of GUE random matrices
Abstract : This thesis consists of two papers devoted to the asymptotics of random matrix ensembles and measure valued stochastic processes which can be considered as generalizations of the Gaussian unitary ensemble (GUE) of Hermitian matrices H=A+A†, where the entries of A are independent identically distributed (iid) centered complex Gaussian random variables. In the first paper, a system of interacting diffusing particles on the real line is studied; special cases include the eigenvalue dynamics of matrix-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes (Dyson's Brownian motion). 4. Analysis of Embedded Controllers Subject to Computational Overruns
Abstract : Microcontrollers have become an integral part of modern everyday embedded systems, such as smart bikes, cars, and drones. Typically, microcontrollers operate under real-time constraints, which require the timely execution of programs on the resource-constrained hardware. READ MORE

5. Neural mechanisms for the control of posture, locomotion and steering : a behavioral, electrophysiological and modeling study in lamprey
Abstract : When animals move around interacting with the environment, the nervous system has to solve several tasks simultaneously in order to produce and control the movements - notably propulsion, posture, balance, and associated movements. Basic motor tasks are controlled by neuronal networks organized into central pattern generators (CPGs) and reflexes, located in the spinal cord and brainstem. READ MORE
