  1. 1. Topics on Harmonic analysis and Multilinear Algebra

    Author : Mahdi Hormozi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Generalized bounded variation; Helly s theorem; Modulus of variation; Generalized Wiener classes; Symmetry classes of tensors; Orthogonal basis; Brauer symmetry classes of tensors; Multilinear singular integrals; weighted norm inequalities; weighted bounds; local mean oscillation; Lerner s formula; Brauer symmetry classes of tensors;

    Abstract : The present thesis consists of six different papers. Indeed, they treat three different research areas: function spaces, singular integrals and multilinear algebra. In paper I, a characterization of continuity of the $p$-$\Lambda$-variation function is given and Helly's selection principle for $\Lambda BV^{(p)}$ functions is established. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimization and Physical Bounds for Passive and Non-passive Systems

    Author : Yevhen Ivanenko; Sven Nordebo; Börje Nilsson; Mats Gustafsson; Mariana Dalarsson; Aaron Welters; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Convex optimization; physical bounds; Herglotz functions; quasi-Herglotz functions; passive systems; non-passive systems; approximation; absorption in lossy media; Waves; Signals and Systems; Vågor; signaler och system;

    Abstract : Physical bounds in electromagnetic field theory have been of interest for more than a decade. Considering electromagnetic structures from the system theory perspective, as systems satisfying linearity, time-invariance, causality and passivity, it is possible to characterize their transfer functions via Herglotz functions. 3. 3. Sharp Bounds for Calderón-Zygmund Operators in a Vector-Valued Setting

    Author : Andrei Stoica; Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Calderón-Zygmund operator; martingale transform; Bellman function; dyadic Haar shift; UMD space; matrix A2 weight; weighted L2-space; Carleson embedding theorem;

    Abstract : In this thesis we extend several classical results about Calderón-Zygmund operators to spaces of vector-valued functions. We first obtain bounds for the norm of dyadic Haar shift operators using a Bellman function technique, and then apply the representation theorem to obtain corresponding results for general Calderón-Zygmund operators. 5. 5. On Detection and Estimation of Multiple Sources in Radar Array Processing

    Author : Jonny Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spatially correlated noise; Cramer-Rao bounds; estimation; feature reduction; virtual uniform linear arrays; classification; adaptive data reduction; nonlinear weighted least squares; multiple targets; detection;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with detection and estimation problems in sensor array signal processing. We treat the multiple hypothesis problem for complex sinusoids observed in spatially colored noise. READ MORE
