  1. 1. The Weighted Space Odyssey

    Author : Martin Křepela; Sorina Barza; Gord Sinnamon; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; integral operators; supremal operators; weights; weighted function spaces; Lorentz spaces; Lebesgue spaces; convolution; Hardy inequality; multilinear operators; nonincreasing rearrangement; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : The common topic of this thesis is boundedness of integral and supremal operators between weighted function spaces.The first type of results are characterizations of boundedness of a convolution-type operator between general weighted Lorentz spaces. READ MORE

  2. 2. Algorithms for the Weighted Orthogonal Procrustes Problem and other Least Squares Problems

    Author : Thomas Viklands; Per-Åke Wedin; Lars Eldén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Procrustes; weighted; orthogonal; algorithms; global optimization.; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we present algorithms for local and global minimization of some Procrustes type problems. Typically, these problems are about rotating and scaling a known set of data to fit another set with applications related to determination of rigid body movements, factor analysis and multidimensional scaling. 3. 3. Weighted Analysis of Microarray Experiments

    Author : Anders Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA microarray; differential expression; gene expression; quality control QC ; quality assurance QA ; quality assessment; generalised linear model; empirical Bayes; weighted moderated statistic; invalid p-value; heteroscedasticity; WAME; heteroscedasticity;

    Abstract : DNA microarrays are strikingly efficient tools for analysing gene expression for large sets of genes simultaneously. The aim is often to identify genes which are differentially expressed between some studied conditions, thereby gaining insight into which cellular mechanisms are differently active between the conditions. 4. 4. Weighted Bergman kernels and biharmonic Green functions

    Author : Stefan Jakobsson; Matematikcentrum; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; singularity resolution of Bergman kernels; Hadamard s variational formula; weighted Bergman kernel; weighted biharmonic Green function; Friedrichs operator; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : The main theme of this thesis is the connection between weighted biharmonic Green functions and weighted Bergman kernels. In the first paper, which is a joint work with H. Hedenmalm and S. Shimorin, we prove that weighted biharmonic Green functions are positive for weights which satisfy a mean-value condition and whose logarithms are subharmonic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Weighted Regression with Application to Array Antennas

    Author : Astrid Lundgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; array antenna; weighted regression; statistical estimation theory; modelling; calibration;

    Abstract : A nonlinear system can be modelled with a simple linear model ifthe model is only valid locally. This can be done by assigningweights to the estimation data, as a function of the distance tothe modelled point. The weighting is here used to develop adirection-dependent calibration method for array antennas. READ MORE
