1. Weld Pool Simulations
Abstract : This investigation is devoted to the study of welding and its effect on the workpiece, focusing on the thermo and fluid dynamical phenomena occuring during a autogenous or nonautogenous arc fusion welding process. Its aim is to simulate the behaviour of the weld pool and analyze the consequence of the solid-liquid phase change, thus obtaining a methodology for predicting the appearance of weld defects related to solidification and cooling. 2. Conduction laser welding : modelling of melt pool with free surface deformation
Abstract : Laser welding is commonly used in the automotive-, steel- and aerospace industry. It is a highly non-linear and coupled process where the weld geometry is strongly affected by the flow pattern in the melt pool. Experimental observations are challenging since the melt pool and melt flow below the surface are not yet accessible during welding. READ MORE

3. Super duplex stainless steels : Microstructure and propertiesof physically simulated base and weld metal
Abstract : High-temperature processing and application of super duplex stainless steel(SDSS) are associated with the risk of changes in the ferrite/austenite balance and precipitation of secondary phases. This study was therefore aimed at improving knowledge about effects of thermal cycles on the microstructure and properties of SDSS base and weld metal. READ MORE

4. Monitoring and Control of Robotized Laser Metal-Wire Deposition
Abstract : The thesis gives a number of solutions towards full automation of the promising manufacturing technology Robotized Laser Metal-wire Deposition (RLMwD). RLMwD offers great cost and weight saving potentials in the manufacturing industry. READ MORE

5. Analysis of laser arc hybrid welding experiments
Abstract : The thesis is about the analysis of experimental results on the laser arc hybrid welding (LAHW) process as well as about the methodology and tools behind. Due to the high potential on weld penetration and welding speed, the industrial importance of LAHW techniques has been increasing in the recent years. READ MORE
