1. Proximity Ligation Assay for High Performance Protein Analysis in Medicine
Abstract : High quality reagents are preconditions for high performance protein analyses. But despite progress in some techniques, e.g. mass spectrometry, there is still a lack of affinity-based detection techniques with enhanced precision, specificity, and sensitivity. READ MORE

2. Expression and Regulation of P2 Receptors in Human Circulation
Abstract : P2 receptors mediate the actions of the extracellular nucleotides ATP, ADP, UTP and UDP regulating several physiological responses including cardiac function, vascular tone, smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation, platelet aggregation, and the release of endothelial factors. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mRNA and protein expression of P2 receptors in human SMCs, endothelial cells (ECs), erythrocytes and platelets, the regulation of P2 receptors under shear stress in human vessels, the changes of platelet P2 receptors in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the regulation of plasma ATP levels by P2 receptor on erythrocytes. 3. Validation of antibodies for protein profiling : A study using immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays
Abstract : The field of proteomics has rapidly expanded due to the completion of the human genome sequence. This thesis validates affinity-purified monospecific antibodies of polyclonal origin, for protein profiling in a broad spectrum of normal tissues and cells. READ MORE

4. Matrix metalloproteinases in natural killer cells. Expression of MMPs, IL-2 activation and killer cell interactions with Matrigel® and model tumours
Abstract : Introduction: IL-2 activated natural killer (A-NK) cells can recognize malignant cells and exert tumouricidal activities by multiple mechanisms that require close contact with the target cells. Upon adoptive transfer, some A-NK cells accumulate in tumours by migrating from the vascular bed to a position inside the malignant tissue, forming close contacts with target cells. READ MORE

5. Uveal melanoma : cytogenetics, molecular biology and tumor immunology
Abstract : Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy. The metastatic spread is hematogenous and exclusively to the liver. Although eye-sparing treatments are used more frequently the tumor-related mortality in uveal melanoma is still 30-50%. Only 2% of the patients have detectable metastases at the time of diagnosis.
