  1. 1. ALL-OPTICAL CONTROL OF MOLECULAR FUNCTIONS - ENERGY TRANSFER SWITCHING AND INFORMATION PROCESSING

    Author : Magnus Bälter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; white-light generation; molecular logic; spiropyran; photochromism; DNA-binding; diarylethene; energy transfer; all-photonic; fulgimide; dithienylethene; photoswitch; fluorescence modulation;

    Abstract : In this work, the photoswitching of molecular systems endowed with photochromic functionality have been investigated for the reversible photonic gating of excitation energy transfer (FRET) reactions as well as in application for all-photonic molecular logic. The presented systems involves the integration of photochromic entities within both covalent and non-covalent designs and serves to implicate photonic switching of molecular level phenomena. 2. 2. Thermal Plasmonic Metasurfaces

    Author : Gustav Edman Jönsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Plasmonic materials can form viable optical absorbers that offer new possibilities for device designs as they potentially have large optical cross-sections with readily tuned spectral positions and widths. Applications for such materials include heat generation via optical absorption. READ MORE

    Abstract : The purpose of this PhD thesis work has been to develop optical techniques that can help utility engineers for assessing the state of insulators in service and in a laboratory. The possibilities to use remote laser induced fluorescence for detection and imaging of biological growth such as algae and fungi have been investigated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of Ultrashort Pulses And Ultrafast Dynamics of Molecules In the Liquid Phase

    Author : Ming Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : Ultrafast Spectrascopy;

    Abstract : This thesis reports an alternative method for fully acomplete characterization of the UV pump pulse and white lightcontinuum probe pulse, which is commonly used in the pump-probeexperiments to investigate the ultrafast dynamics of molecules.Besides that, real dynamics of infrared cyanine dye molecules(Methyl-DOTCI) and photo-induced dissociation of trihalide ions(I3-or I2Br-) solvated in different organic solvent has alsobeen carefully investigated.
