  1. 1. Control of Cracking due to Imposed Strains in Concrete Structures

    Author : Dan Pettersson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; Friction.; Restraint; Shrinkage; Imposed deformations; Minimum reinforcement; Crack widths; Reinforced concrete; Crack development; Crack control; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with crack control due to imposed deformations in concrete structures. The objective of crack control may either be to prevent cracking or to limit the crack widths. The aim here is to increase the knowledge in both fields for some common structures. Five papers are included and the three last concern crack development. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ion cyclotron resonance heating in toroidal plasmas

    Author : Johan Hedin; KTH; []
    Keywords : Fusion plasma; RF heating; self-consistent calculations; ion cyclotron resonance; fast wave current drive; finite orbit widths; RF induced transport; ICRF; ICRH; antenna phasing;

  3. 3. Fast wave heating and current drive in tokamaks

    Author : Martin Laxåback; Torbjörn Hellsten; Raymond Koch; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tokamak; JET; ITER; thermonuclear fusion; fast wave; heating; current drive; ion cyclotron resonance; polychromatic; finite orbit widths; RF-induced transport; neutral beam injection; fusion born alpha particles; magnetosonic eigenmodes; parasitic absorption; modelling; weighted Monte Carlo scheme; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns heating and current drive in tokamak plasmas using the fast magnetosonic wave in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies. Fast wave heating is a versatile heating method for thermonuclear fusion plasmas and can provide both ion and electron heating and non-inductive current drive. READ MORE

  4. 4. Restraint Effects in Concrete Bridges : A Study of Cracking due to Thermal Actions and Shrinkage in Portal Frame Bridges

    Author : Erik Gottsäter; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tvång; Betong; Uppsprickning; Temperaturlast; Plattrambro; FE-analys; Restraint; Concrete; Cracking; Thermal action; Portal frame bridge; FE-analysis;

    Abstract : Thermal actions and shrinkage cause volume changes in concrete structures. In structures which are restrained from movements, the restraint effects can cause cracking. However, when cracking occurs, the structure can deform to some extent, which reduces the restraint stresses and thus also the crack widths. READ MORE

  5. 5. Anchorage of Corroded Reinforcement in Existing Concrete Structures: Experimental Study

    Author : Mohammad Tahershamsi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anchorage; reinforced concrete structures; structural behaviour; natural corrosion; Bond properties; experiments; load-carrying capacity.;

    Abstract : The decrease in bond capacity and its relationship to the crack widths and patterns documented were studied for both the naturally corroded specimens tested in this study and artificial corrosion tests from the literature. A reduction of bond strength with increasingly maximal crack widths was observed in both types of tests. READ MORE
