  1. 1. Neuromolecular and behavioural profile of teleosts : - effects of boldness, agonistic behaviour and reproductive status

    Author : Arshi Mustafa; Svante Winberg; Per Erik Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Histamine receptor 1 hrh1 ; histamine receptor 2 hrh2 ; histamine receptor 3 hrh3 ; boldness; personality; aggression; Histaminergic activity; Serotonergic activty 5-HIAA 5-HT ; Dopaminergic activty DOPAC DA ; spiegeldanio spd ; wild caught zebrafish; AB zebrafish; behaviour; brain.;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates if boldness is reflected in the function of brain histaminergic system in zebrafish (Danio rerio). Moreover, behavioural differences in AB line, spiegeldanio (spd) line and wild caught strain of zebrafish have also been explored apart from the winner-loser effect in AB and spd fish. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effect of elevated pCO2 and environmental oxazepam on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish

    Author : Laura E. Vossen; Svante Winberg; Robert Gerlai; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fish; GABA; CO2; ocean acidification; pharmaceutical pollution; oxazepam;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis investigated the effect of two aquatic pollutants on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish: i) elevated concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the context of ocean acidification and ii) low concentrations of the anxiolytic pharmaceutical oxazepam in the context of pharmaceutical pollution.Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 are lowering the pH of the oceans. 3. 3. Intraspecific divergence and phenotypic plasticity in behavioural profiles of teleost fish

    Author : Johanna Axling; Svante Winberg; Johan Höjesjö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; animal personality; phenotypic plasticity; Salmo salar; Danio rerio; activity; boldness; aggression.; Biology with specialization in Comparative Physiology; Biologi med inriktning mot jämförande fysiologi;

    Abstract : Behavioural differences between and within individuals can greatly affect the outcome of behavioural studies. In addition, behavioural interactions between individuals can compromise the health and welfare of captive fish. READ MORE

  4. 4. Endocrine disruption in fish : Effects of 17α-ethinylestradiol exposure on non-reproductive behavior, fertility and brain and testis transcriptome

    Author : Tove Porseryd; Inger Porsch Hällström; Ioanna Katsiadaki; Södertörns högskola; []

    Abstract : Aquatic environments are the end recipient for most anthropogenic chemical pollutants. One common chemical pollutant found in the aquatic environment is 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2), a synthetic estrogen used in contraceptive pills. READ MORE
