  1. 1. The Wilms' tumor gene 1 (WT1) and leukemia -new insights and further complexity

    Author : Emelie Svensson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Cofilin 1; NDRG2; IRF-8; BCR ABL1; hematopoiesis; Wilms´ tumor gene 1; leukemia;

    Abstract : The Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1) encodes a zinc-finger containing transcription factor which is highly expressed in immature hematopoietic progenitor cells. A high expression of WT1 and the presence of somatic mutations in acute leukemia indicate a role for WT1 in the pathogenesis of leukemia. READ MORE

  2. 2. Significance of Wilms’ tumor gene 1 as a biomarker in acute leukemia and solid tumors

    Author : Charlotta Andersson; Eva Lundin; Aihong Li; Andreas Jonsson; Xingru Li; David M. Loeb; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wilms’ tumor gene 1; biomarker; leukemia; renal cell carcinoma; ovarian carcinoma; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi; patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : Wilms’ tumor gene 1 (WT1) is a zinc finger transcriptional regulator with crucial functions in embryonic development. Originally WT1 was described as a tumor suppressor gene, but later studies have shown oncogenic properties of WT1 in a variety of tumors. Because of its dual functions in tumorigenesis, WT1 has been described as a chameleon gene. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wilms' tumor gene 1 in different types of cancer

    Author : Xingru Li; Aihong Li; Karin Nylander; Eva Lundin; Xiaolian Gu; David M. Loeb; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WT1; AML; MRD; ccRCC; SNPs; DNA methylation; SCCHN; p63; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Wilms’ tumor gene 1 (WT1) was first reported as a tumor suppressor gene in Wilms’ tumor. However, later studies have shown the oncogenic properties of WT1 in a variety of tumors. It was recently proposed that WT1 was a chameleon gene, due to its dual functions in tumorigenesis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional studies of Wilms’ tumor gene 1 (WT1) in hematopoiesis and leukemia

    Author : Helena Svedberg; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; K562; U937; CD34 ; leukemia; WT1; hematopoiesis; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : Wilms’ tumor gene 1 (WT1) is a zinc-finger transcription factor that is involved in the development of urogenital organs and mesothelial tissues. It was initially identified as a tumor suppressor gene, based on the observation that somatic inactivation of the gene predispose for development of the pediatric kidney cancer Wilms’ tumor. 5. 5. Development and Application of Human Chromosome 22 Genomic Microarray : Chromosome 22-Associated Disorders Analyzed by Array-Based Comparative Genomic Hybridization

    Author : Magdalena Benetkiewicz; Jan Dumanski; Niklas Dahl; Frank Speleman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; DNA copy number changes; chromosome 22; genomic microarray; array-CGH; schwannoma; neurofibromatosis type 2; ovarian carcinoma; breast cancer; Wilms tumor; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik;

    Abstract : The array-based form of comparative genomic hybridization (array-CGH) is a new methodology that has shown to be of significant importance. This thesis focuses on the development of array-CGH with the aim to define candidate regions/genes on chromosome 22 in a wide spectrum of cancer-related conditions. READ MORE
