  2. 2. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace

    Author : Ying Yang; Pär Jönsson; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion motion; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry nozzle; mold; wire feeding; melting behavior; FeSiRE particle powder motion; induction furnace;

    Abstract : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). READ MORE

  3. 3. Hot wire and PIV studies of transonic turbulent wall-bounded flows

    Author : Timmy Sigfrids; KTH; []
    Keywords : fluid mechanics; compressible flow; turbulence; boundary layer; hot-wire anemometry; PIV; shock wave boundary layer interaction; shape factor;

    Abstract : The compressible turbulent boundary layer developing over atwo-dimensional bump which leads to a supersonic pocket with aterminating shock wave has been studied. The measurements havebeen made with hot-wire anemometry and Particle ImageVelocimetry (PIV). READ MORE

  4. 4. Laser-induced recoil pressure on metal drops and powder particles

    Author : Adrien Da Silva; Jörg Volpp; Jan Frostevarg; Alexander Kaplan; Peer Woizeschke; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : Additive Manufacturing became a major research topic and part of industrial production in the past years. Numerous techniques now allow to build 3D structures with a wide choice of materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Techniques for Tolerating Soft Errors in Brake-by-Wire Systems

    Author : Daniel Skarin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the problem of tolerating soft errors in brake-by-wire systems. Soft errors are caused by ionizing particles and manifest themselves as bit-flips in memory registers, latches, and flip-flops. As transistors are shrunk to sustain Moore's law, the frequency of such radiation-induced faults increases. READ MORE
