    Abstract : Wireless applications have become a common part of daily life. Whether it is mobile phones, the Wi-Fi router at home, the keycard which has replaced the car key, a radio frequency identification access system to a building or a Bluetooth headset for your computer or phone, the means of modern wireless data exchange is an omnipresent technology. 2. 2. Energy Constrained Wireless Sensor Networks : Communication Principles and Sensing Aspects

    Author : Erik Björnemo; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Erik Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wireless sensor network; communication under processing cost; wireless channels; fading; probability theory as logic; uncertainty; measurement capacity; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Wireless sensor networks are attractive largely because they need no wired infrastructure. But precisely this feature makes them energy constrained, and the consequences of this hard energy constraint are the overall topic of this thesis. READ MORE

    Abstract : The main focus of the work presented in this licentiate thesis concerns antenna design, adaptive antenna control and investigation on how the performance of small wireless nodes can be increased by inclusion of multiple antennas. In order to provide an end-user suitable solution for wireless nodes the devices require both small form factor and good performance in order to be competitive on the marked and thus the main part of this thesis focuses on techniques developed to achieve these goals. 4. 4. Using Existing Infrastructure as Support for Wireless Sensor Networks

    Author : Jonas Neander; Mats Björkman; Mikael Nolin; Jukka Mäki-Turja; Björn Knutsson; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wireless; sensor networks; communication; base station; asymmetric communication; multihop; network lifetime; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling handlar om hur befintliga datorinfrastrukturer i t.ex. sjukhus och industrier kan avlasta sensornätverk med energikrävande uppgifter. Vi har forskat på olika aspekter som gör det möjligt att förlänga livslängden på dessa sensornätverk. READ MORE

  5. 5. Wireless Sensor Network Positioning Techniques

    Author : Mohammad Reza Gholami; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; outer-approximations; Cram; Wireless sensor network; nonlinear and linear least squares; cooperative positioning; projection onto convex sets; maximum likelihood esti- mator;

    Abstract : Position information is one of the key requirements for wireless sensor networks(WSNs). Since GPS receivers have drawbacks when used in low-power sensor nodes,mainly due to latency in position recovery and limited access to GPS satellites in indoor-type scenarios, extracting the position information by means of the network itself, so-called positioning or localization, has been considered an eective solution for the posi-tioning problem.
