  1. 1. Industry applications of multivariable control

    Author : Wolfgang Birk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Abstract : In the face of environmental regulations, optimization of industrial processes becomes necessary. This doctoral thesis summarizes the results of three application-driven projects in automatic control that were aimed at process optimization in the steel industry. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multivariable control of a pneumatic conveying system

    Author : Wolfgang Birk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis deals with a multivariable controller of a pneumatic conveying system. The industrial process used to illustrate design, analysis and implementation of a multivariable controller is the injection of fine coal into a blast furnace. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inflammatory transcription factors in atherosclerosis

    Author : Wolfgang Dichtl; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : Transcription factors such as nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB), activator protein-1 (AP-1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) may play important roles in atherogenesis, by regulating chronic subclinical vascular inflammation. In the first study, we showed that VLDL activates the proinflammatory transcription factor NF-kB in endothelial cells both in vitro and in vivo. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Design Methodology for Flexible Systems

    Author : Wolfgang Diestelkamp; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; software architecture maintainability; performance;

    Abstract : In software architecture, two seemingly contradicting goals are to be considered when designing systems, namely maintainability and performance aspects. It seems to be commonly accepted that systems can be designed either for flexibility and thus easily be maintained, or for performance, but generally not both at the same time. READ MORE
