  1. 1. Structural-acoustic vibrations in wooden assemblies : Experimental modal analysis and finite element modelling

    Author : Åsa Bolmsvik; Torbjörn Ekevik; Andreas Linderholt; Anders Brandt; Anders Ågren; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wooden framed structure; light weight buildings; multi-storey; flanking transmission; junction; vibration distribution; impact noise; damping; elastomers; finite element analysis; experimental modal analysis; FRF; trästomme; träkonstruktion; träbyggnad; flervåningshus; EMA; FEM; flanktransmission; koppling; knutpunkt; vibrationsspridning; stomljud; stegljud; dämpning; elastomerer; finit elementmetod; experimentell modalanalys; accelerationsmätning; frekvensresponsfunktion; modalanalys;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tracing a Sacred Building Tradition. Wooden Churches, Carpenters and Founders in Maramures until the Turn of the 18th Century

    Author : Babos Alexandru; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; vernacular architecture in Maramureº; European log building; church carpenters; founders; sacred building tradition and regional identity.; wooden churches; Architecture; inredningsarkitektur; Arkitektur; interior design;

    Abstract : The increasing interest in the European historical log construction has heightened the need for comprehensive studies in different parts of the continent to view both the common features and the particular ones. The advanced Scandinavian research has revealed the problems of studying in depth and maintaining the log heritage when links to traditional carpentry are lost. READ MORE

  3. 3. Testing and finite element modeling of wooden stairs and bridge decks

    Author : Anna Pousette; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : Development of new products in the joinery industry has traditionally been based on testing of prototypes. Computer-aided design tools and finite element analysis can supplement traditional prototype testing and improve the product development process. READ MORE

  4. 4. Moisture conditions in rain exposed wood joints - Experimental methods and laboratory measurements

    Author : Maria Fredriksson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood; moisture; durability; service life; microclimate; surface moisture; mositure content; Norway spruce; Picea abies; pressure plate; decay; growth ring width; heartwood;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the moisture conditions in rain exposed wood structures, i.e. wood exposed to high moisture levels. The focus was on the microclimate (the climate at the wood surface) and the material climate (the wood moisture content) in joints. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structural-acoustic analysis of wall-to-floor joints in timber-framed housing

    Author : Åsa Bolmsvik; Torbjörn Ekevid; Göran Sandberg; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustics; Akustik; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Even though a building meets the regulations with respect to impact sound, structures with wooden frames may receive complaints from the inhabitants due to structure-borne sound in the lower frequencies. In this thesis measuring methods that are more precise than the traditional measuring methods have been used to see if they could give a better knowledge about flanking transmission in the low frequencies in timber-framed structures.
