  1. 11. Of Pipes and Bends

    Author : Jacopo Canton; Philipp Schlatter; Ramis Örlü; Dwight Barkley; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear instability; bifurcation; flow control; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This work is concerned with the transition to turbulence of the flow in bent pipes, but it also includes an analysis of large-scale turbulent structures and their use for flow control.The flow in a toroidal pipe is selected as it represents the common asymptotic limit between spatially developing and helical pipes. 2. 12. The Physical Foundation of the Patterning of Physical Action Verbs : A Study of Chinese Verbs

    Author : Hong Gao; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Languages and literatures of South and South-East Asia; verbal semantics; trajector; semantic representation; pyscholingistics; polysemy; physical reality; physical foundation; physical action verbs; observability; motion; lexicalization patterning; landmark; intentionality; innateness; physical contact; force-dynamics; combinability; conflation; cognitive semantics; active zone; affectability; Chinese; Kinesiska och språk och litteratur från Syd- och Sydostasien; Linguistics; Lingvistik; Grammar; semantics; semiotics; syntax; Grammatik; semantik; semiotik;

    Abstract : This work is a study of verbal semantics with a focus on the discussion and illustration of the role of body parts and the semantic incorporation into verbal roots of the actions that involve various body parts. Following a general discussion of the basic issues of language construction and human body actions with the image schemas of force-dynamics presented in line with the framework of cognitive semantics, it is argued that the event structures of physical action verbs are not arbitrarily constructed but rather the constructions are built through systematic cognitive processes in relation to both human physical reality and concrete reality in the world. 3. 13. Visual demand in manual task performance - Towards a virtual evaluation

    Author : Tania Dukic; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; working posture; computer manikin software; motion; visual demand;

    Abstract : Visual information is crucial for carrying out motor activities. However, knowledgeabout the effects of visual demand on the performance of manual tasks is not welldocumented. Visual determinants must be identified in order to be used in visualisationand simulation tools (e.g. READ MORE

  4. 14. On Robotic Work-Space Sensing and Control

    Author : Magnus Linderoth; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Robotics; computer vision; color constancy; motion blur; filter initialization; visual tracking; on-line trajectory generation; ball-catching robot; force control; robotic assembly; force estimation; perception-action capabilities.;

    Abstract : Industrial robots are fast and accurate when working with known objects at precise locations in well-structured manufacturing environments, as done in the classical automation setting. In one sense, limited use of sensors leaves robots blind and numb, unaware of what is happening in their surroundings. READ MORE

  5. 15. Experiments and Capability Analysis in Process Industry

    Author : Peder Lundkvist; Peter Söderholm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Kvalitetsteknik; Quality Technology and Management;

    Abstract : The existence of variation has been a major problem in industry since the industrial revolution. Hence, many organizations try to find strategies to master and reduce the variation. Statistical analysis, such as process capability analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE), often plays an important role in such a strategy. READ MORE
