  1. 1. Class and gender in Russian welfare policies : Soviet legacies and contemporary challenges

    Author : Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; class; gender; welfare policies; social policy; Russia; social work profession; ideology; institutions; culture; actors;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis is to explore the gendered and classed nature of social work and social welfare in Russia to show how social policy can be a part of and reinforce marginalisation. The overall research question is in what ways class and gender are constructed in Russian social work practice and welfare rhetoric through Soviet legacies and contemporary challenges? In addition, which actors contribute to the constitution of social work values and how this value system affects the agency of the clients? This study focuses on contradictory ideologies that are shaped in discursive formations of social policy, social work training and practice. READ MORE

  2. 2. Information structures and workflows in health care informatics

    Author : Johan Karlsson; Patrik Eklund; Silvana Quaglini; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Health care informatics; work ows; decision support systems; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Abstract : Patient data in health care have traditionally been used to support direct patient care. Although there is great potential in combining such data with genetic information from patients to improve diagnosis and therapy decisions (i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and analysis of turbulence models for flows with strong curvature and rotation

    Author : Olof Grundestam; KTH; []
    Keywords : Turbulence model; nonlinear modelling; streamline curvature; high-lift aerodynamics;

    Abstract : An explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model (EARSM) based ona pressure strain rate model including terms tensoriallynonlinear in the mean velocity gradients is developed in orderto improve predictions for .ows with strong curvature and/orrotation. READ MORE

    Abstract : Disturbances introduced in wall-bounded .ows can grow andlead to transition from laminar to turbulent .ow. In order toreduce losses or enhance mixing in energy systems, afundamental understanding of the . READ MORE

  5. 5. Feedback and adjoint based control of boundary layer flows

    Author : Mattias Chevalier; Dan Henningson; Jean-Marc Chomaz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; fluid and plasma; mechanical engineering; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Linear and nonlinear optimal control have been investigated in transitional channel and boundary layer .ows. The flow phenomena that we study are governed by the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and the main aim with the control is to prevent transition from laminar to turbulent flows. READ MORE
