  1. 1. Continuum modelling of work hardening in precipitation hardened alloys

    Author : Philip Croné; Jonas Faleskog; Peter Gudmundson; Norman Fleck; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid Mechanics; Hållfasthetslära;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with prediction of macroscopic work hardening in a precipitation hardened alloy. The focus is on the particle contribution. A hierarchical modelling approach is adopted where work hardening in a representative material volume on the microscale is homogenized and used to represent the macroscopic hardening. READ MORE

  2. 2. Wear in cone crusher chambers

    Author : Mats Lindqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cone crusher; modelling; wear; rock crusher; work hardening;

    Abstract : Cone crushers are widely used in the mining and aggregates industries to reduce the size of blasted rock. A cone crusher consists of a fixed conic liner called concave and inside it a smaller moving liner called mantle. The mantle is suspended on an eccentrically rotating shaft. READ MORE

  3. 3. Deformation Behaviour of Near Fully Pearlitic Railway Steels During Monotonic and Cyclic Loading

    Author : Niklas Köppen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCF; low cycle fatigue; Near fully pearlitic steels; work hardening; microstructure; tensile deformation; medium carbon steel;

    Abstract : The main conclusions that could be drawn from the present work are that the deformation behaviour of fully and near fully pearlitic steels is very similar and that a combination of low temperature, prestraining and high deformation rates is critical for the performance. This was shown from microscopy studies, tensile, impact and low cycle fatigue (LCF) testing. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of wear in cone crushers

    Author : Mats Lindqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; manganese steel; wear; simulation; work hardening; wear prediction; cone crushers;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling mechanical properties by analysing datasets of commercial alloys

    Author : Johan Zander; Rolf Sandström; Stanislaw Zajac; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium alloys; modelling; material optimisation; mechanical properties; solid solution hardening; precipitation hardening; work-hardening; multiple regression; stainless steel; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Commercial alloys are continuously developed to improve their performance. Therefore it is important to develop new optimisation software, which could be used in development of new materials or in materials selection. In this study the mechanical properties which are important in materials selection in mechanical design are investigated. READ MORE
