  1. 1. New workflow method for ultrasound examinations

    Author : Carina Stenman; Örjan Smedby; Staffan Wirell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background: Growing demand for ultrasound examinations and higher quality requirements motivate searching for routines combining the diagnostic accuracy of radiologist-performed examinations with the economical advantages of sonographerperformed examinations. One possible approach is to use strictly standardized examination protocols and documentation made by cine-loops that will give the radiologist access to all relevant information after the examination. 2. 2. Radiographic quality workflow : in the digitized healthcare environment

    Author : Kerstin Hillergård; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis emphasizes two different aspects — how radiographers use knowledge in image production work and perceive a radiographic quality workflow in the digitized healthcare environment using PACS — both because these aspects are cornerstones in the delivery of radiographic work and because the two aspects are related to one another. The aim was to inform the field of radiography of changes related to digital imaging production work by understanding how radiographers use their knowledge in work and perceive a radiographic quality workflow in detail. 3. 3. [18F]Flutemetamol PET image processing, visualization and quantification targeting clinical routine

    Author : Johan Lilja; Sörensen Jens; Mark Lubberink; Elna-Marie Larsson; Lars Olson; Claus Svarer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; quantification; flutemetamol; amyloid imaging; Alzheimer’s disease; positron emission tomography; brain mapping; stereotactic surface projections; image registration; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia and is alone responsible for 60-70% of all cases of dementia. Though sharing clinical symptoms with other types of dementia, the hallmarks of AD are the abundance of extracellular depositions of β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques, intracellular neurofibrillary tangles of hyper phosphorylated tau proteins and synaptic depletion. Abstract : Digital pathology is a novel technology currently being implemented world wide. Thisthesis summarizes four years of HCI and visualization research and provides an overallunderstanding of designing workstation software for pathologists. READ MORE

  5. 5. Toward fully automatic earthquake detection and processing for tomography in the Hengill area

    Author : Frederic Wagner; Ari Tryggvason; Ólafur Gudmundsson; Roland Roberts; Steven Gibbons; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earthquake detection; local-earthquake tomography; Iceland; induced seismicity; geothermal activity; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the automation of seismic data analysis, in particular, event detection, quality assessment of detected events, and preparation of an earthquake catalogue for seismic tomography.The developed event detector uses back-propagation and stacking of a seismic trace attribute with a known velocity model to detect and locate events.
