  1. 1. Accelerated wound healing by on-site production and delivery of CXCL12

    Author : Emelie Öhnstedt; Mia Phillipson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : wound healing; non-healing wounds; L. reuteri; macrophages; wound assessment; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : Non-healing wounds is a growing medical problem, often associated with pathological conditions such as diabetes and peripheral ischemia. A non-healing wound entails a large amount of suffering for the patient, and demands extensive health care resources. READ MORE

  2. 2. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Author : Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Abstract : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plasminogen : a novel inflammatory regulator that promotes wound healing

    Author : Yue Shen; Tor Ny; Gunilla Høyer-Hansen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Plasminogen; inflammation; wound healing; diabetic wounds; tympanic membrane perforations; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The plasminogen activator (PA) system has been shown to be intimately involved in wound healing. However, the role of this system in the initiation and resolution of inflammation during healing process remained to be determined. READ MORE

  4. 4. In vitro wound healing characteristics of amelogenins

    Author : Sofia Almqvist; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amelogenins; extracellular matrix; cell culture; macrophage; fibroblast; endothelial cell; integrin; cytokine; inflammation; wound healing tissue repair;

    Abstract : Wound healing involves the co-ordinated actions of several cell types, soluble cell mediators and extracellular matrix (ECM). This research project intended to investigate the role of certain ECM proteins in different processes during tissue repair by studying the interaction between dermal cells and ECM. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental Colonic Obstruction and Anastomotic Healing

    Author : Martin Rehn; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstruction; anastomosis; colon; wound healing; matrix metalloproteinases; collagen; MMP inhibition;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases world-wide. Most patients can be diagnosed, staged and treated by surgery in an elective setting. However, about one fifth of the patients will have an emergency presentation and in most cases due to malignant obstruction of the left colon. READ MORE
