  1. 11. Use of local electrochemical techniques for corrosion studies of stainless steels

    Author : Nuria Fuertes; Rachel Pettersson; Mari Sparr; Ulf Kivisäkk; Yolanda Hedberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; passive film; thermal oxides; work function; pickling; SKPFM; SVET; XPS; AES; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The excellent corrosion resistance of stainless steels arises from the presence of a passive film on its surface. Above 10.5wt% Cr a chromium oxide of 1-3 nm is formed on the surface of the metal that in case of damage will reform and hinder further dissolution of the metal. READ MORE

  2. 12. A Molecular view of inital Atmospheric Corrosion : In situ surface studies of zinc based on vibrational spectroscopy

    Author : Jonas Hedberg; Christofer Leygraf; Geiger Franz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atmospheric corrosion; zinc; vibrational spectroscopy; formic acid; acetic acid; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Atmospheric corrosion takes place on most metals as they interact with thesurrounding environment. A degradation of the metal is the common result,which often leads to a shortened lifespan of the material. READ MORE

  3. 13. Growth and Characterization of Strain-engineered Si/SiGe Heterostructures Prepared by Molecular Beam Epitaxy

    Author : Ming Zhao; Wei-Xin Ni; Göran Hansson; Kang L. Wang; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Si SiGe; Strain engineering; Molecular beam epitaxy; THz; Quantum cascade; Strain relaxation; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The strain introduced by lattice mismatch is a built-in characteristic in Si/SiGe heterostructures, which has significant influences on various material properties. Proper design and precise control of strain within Si/SiGe heterostructures, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 14. Microdialysis Sampling of Macro Molecules : Fluid Characteristics, Extraction Efficiency and Enhanced Performance

    Author : Jiangtao Chu; Andreas Dahlin; Klas Hjort; Jan Kehr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microdialysis; high molecular weight cut-off; fluid characteristics; fluid recovery; extraction efficiency; biomarker; microporous membrane; macromolecule transport; transmembrane; large pore; surface modification; pluronic; dextran; in vitro; microdialysis catheter; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot materialvetenskap; Engineering Science with specialization in Materials Science;

    Abstract : In this thesis, fluid characteristics and sampling efficiency of high molecular weight cut-off microdialysis are presented, with the aim of improving the understanding of microdialysis sampling mechanisms and its performance regarding extraction efficiency of biological fluid and biomarkers.Microdialysis is a well-established clinical sampling tool for monitoring small biomarkers such as lactate and glucose.
