  1. 1. Micro-galvanic effects and corrosion inhibition of copper-zinc alloys

    Author : Mattias Forslund; Jinshan Pan; Christofer Leygraf; Per Claesson; Jin Ying; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Copper; zinc; brass; octadecanethiol; IR Spectroscopy; AFM; atmospheric corrosion; aqueous corrosion; corrosion inhibition; Koppar; zink; mässing; oktadekantiol; IR-reflektions absorptionsspektroskopi; AFM; atmosfärisk korrosion; vattenaktig korrosion; korrosionsinhibering.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract :    With the advancement and accessibility of local probing techniques that can operate at the submicron scale it has become possible to analyse the local corrosion properties of industrially important metallic materials and relate these properties to microstructure characteristics of the same materials. In this doctoral study the focus has been on copper-zinc samples, both as industrial brass alloys and as micro-patterned copper-zinc samples. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Molecular view of inital Atmospheric Corrosion : In situ surface studies of zinc based on vibrational spectroscopy

    Author : Jonas Hedberg; Christofer Leygraf; Geiger Franz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atmospheric corrosion; zinc; vibrational spectroscopy; formic acid; acetic acid; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Atmospheric corrosion takes place on most metals as they interact with thesurrounding environment. A degradation of the metal is the common result,which often leads to a shortened lifespan of the material. READ MORE

  3. 3. Zinc Oxide Bulk and Nanorods

    Author : Peter Klason; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zinc oxide; Schottky contact; buckling; annealing; semiconductor growth; ion implantation; photoluminescence; nanorods;

    Abstract : Zinc Oxide (ZnO) has many promising properties for optoelectronics, sensor applications, transparent electronics etc. To mention a few, ZnO has a large exciton binding energy (60 meV at room temperature) and a direct wide bandgap energy of 3.37 eV. In addition, ZnO is piezoelectric and shows more resistance to radiation damage than Si and GaN. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of Phosphorus, Zinc and Cadmium Mass Flow in Dairy Farming Systems

    Author : Anna-Karin Modin Edman; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; Miljöstudier; Environmental studies; management; Cd; Zn; P; mass balance; system analysis; simulation;

    Abstract : A simulation model, FARMFLOW, was developed for the calculation of phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) stocks, flows and balances in different parts of a dairy farming system. The simulated continuous change in element stocks within the farming system enables evaluation of the long-term effects of management practices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Recovery of copper and zinc in ashes from municipal solid waste combustion

    Author : Jinfeng Tang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cyanex 923; MSWI waste; LIX860-I; acidic leaching; waste treatment.; copper; solvent extraction; zinc;

    Abstract : The amount of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash has increased in many parts of the world in recent years. Ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) may be a cumbersome waste to handle since containing significant amounts of leachable hazardous metal species and must be landfilled in special sites at high costs.
