  1. 11. Microstructure and wear mechanisms of textured CVD alumina and titanium carbonitride coatings

    Author : Siamak Shoja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Plastic deformation; Texture; TKD; Electron microscopy; Coatings; CVD; TiCN; α-alumina; Wear mechanisms;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to find the reasons behind how the wear performance of hard coatings produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is influenced by their texture, as this is today not fully known. Therefore, differently textured coatings were synthesized, and subsequently analyzed both before and after specially designed machining tests. READ MORE

  2. 12. Isothermal low cycle fatigue of uncoated and coated nickel-base superalloys

    Author : Svjetlana Stekovic; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : High strength nickel-base superalloys have been used in turbine blades for many years because of their superior performance at high temperatures. However, the superalloys have limited oxidation and corrosion resistance and to solve this problem, protective coatings are deposited on the surface of the superalloys. READ MORE

    Abstract : It is known that the wear performance of α-alumina coatings produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is significantly influenced by the type and degree of texture. However, the main reasons behind this behavior are not fully understood. This thesis contains studies of two related topics for increasing the understanding of α-alumina coatings. READ MORE

  4. 14. Low Cycle Fatigue and Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue of Uncoated and Coated Nickel-Base Superalloys

    Author : Svjetlana Stekovic; Torsten Ericsson; Hael Mughrabi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AMDRY997; CMSX-4; SCB; Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue; Coatings; Gas Turbine; IC1; IC3; IN792; Low Cycle Fatigue; Nickel-Base Superalloys; RT22; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : High strength nickel-base superalloys have been used in turbine blades for many years because of their superior performance at high temperatures. In such environments superalloys have limited oxidation and corrosion resistance and to solve this problem, protective coatings are deposited on the surface. READ MORE

  5. 15. High power impulse magnetron sputtering under industrial conditions

    Author : Mattias Samuelsson; Ulf Helmersson; Torbjörn Joelsson; Hans Högberg; Bengt Wälivaara; Tomáš Kubart; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the recent development step of magnetron sputtering, termed high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) has been studied. Compared to conventional magnetron sputtering HiPIMS provides a higher plasma density which can ionise the sputtered material. READ MORE
