Abstract: The present work describes different methods for measuring and characterisation of friction in powder compaction process. A new test apparatus has been developed and presented which gives possibility of directly measurement of coefficient of friction during pressing from low to relative high density. It also allows investigation of the surfaces in contact at different values of density. Influences of different parameters on friction in this process have been investigated. The nature of friction in the process has been discussed and also an attempt of modelling the process has been presented. Appended papersI.
