  2. 2. Incidentally detected adrenal lesions - radiological aspects

    Author : Lilian Hammarstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Incidental finding; Adrenal incidentaloma; Adrenal Gland Neoplasm; Computed Tomography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Follow-up Studies; Oncology; Observer variation; Phantom Studies;

    Abstract : Incidentally detected adrenal lesions (“adrenal incidentalomas”) have become a growing clinical problem due to increased and refined radiology methods. Autopsy studies show frequencies as high as 7-8% in the elderly. A large part of such lesions give no health problems but some can be related to hormone overproduction or malignant disease. Abstract : With increasing use of high resolution radiological imaging incidentally discovered adrenal tumours (adrenal incidentalomas, AI) have become a common clinical problem. The aim of work-up and follow-up of patients with AI is to detect malignant (primary or metastatic) and/or hormone-producing tumours. READ MORE
