1. Fluid mechanics of fibre suspensions related to papermaking
Abstract : This thesis deals with fluid dynamic mechanisms related to papermaking, specif- ically: the initial dewatering mechanisms during roll-forming and fibre motion in sedimentation and in shear flow. Pressure and wire position measurements have been conducted in a model resembling the forming zone and the measured pressure distributions are shown to have more complex patterns than the simple model p / T/R (where T is the wire tension and R is the roll radius). 2. Flow measurements related to gas exchange applications
Abstract : This thesis deals with flow measuring techniques applied to steady and pulsating gas flows relevant to gas exchange systems for internal combustion engines. Gas flows in such environments are complex, i.e. they are inhomogeneous, three-dimensional, unsteady, non-isothermal and exhibit significant density changes. READ MORE

3. Modeling of cast iron materials related to machining
Abstract : A microstructure level simulation model of cast iron machining based on micrograph image analysis has been developed. The simulation tool has been developed for theorthogonal machining process involving 2D representations of a range of cast iron microstructures. READ MORE

4. Numerical methods and multi-scale modeling for phase-field fracture - With applications in linear elastic and poro-elastic media
Abstract : This thesis presents novel numerical methods and a multi-scale modelling framework tailored for advancing the phase-field fracture model with applications in linear elastic and poro-elastic media. In the realm of the numerical methods, the focus lies on devising computationally efficient and robust monolithic solution techniques. READ MORE

5. Coupled models related to manufacturing simulations
Abstract : Manufacturing simulations is today on a level where a manufacturingchain can be simulated including various steps such as machining, welding, metal deposition and heat treatment. This opens up for the possibility to investigate different manufacturing routes without the high costsof experimental work. READ MORE
