  1. 1. CT Urography : Efforts to Reduce the Radiation Dose

    Author : Pär Dahlman; Anders Magnusson; Anders Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract malignancy; renal cell carcinoma; urography; x-ray computed tomography; radiation dosage; dose escalation; hematuria diagnosis; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi; Radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Computed tomography urography (CTU) is today the imaging method used to investigate patients with suspected urinary tract malignancy, replacing the old imaging method intravenous pyelography (IVP) about a decade ago. The downside of this shift was that the effective radiation dose to the examined patient was eight times higher for CTU compared to IVP. READ MORE

  2. 2. CT with 3D-Image Reconstructions in Preoperative Planning

    Author : Angeliki Dimopoulou; Anders Magnusson; Anders Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT Angiography; 3D-image reconstructions; haemodialysis; AVF AVG; DIEP flap; surgery time; complicated renal calculi; PNL; true nonenhanced images; virtual nonenhanced images; CT Urography; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Computed tomography is one of the most evolving fields of modern radiology. The current CT applications permit among other things angiography, 3D image reconstructions, material decomposition and tissue characterization. CT is an important tool in the assessment of specific patient populations prior to an invasive or surgical procedure. READ MORE

  3. 3. Investigation of Bladder Tumors with CT Urography in Patients Presenting with Gross Hematuria

    Author : Malin Helenius; Anders Magnusson; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT Urography; Bladder tumor; Gross hematuria; Tissue charactarization; Bladder distension; Tumor detection; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Bladder tumor is the most common tumor detected in patients presenting with gross hematuria. Early detection and treatment is crucial for good prognosis, however, delay in diagnosis and treatment is common. Routine work-up of gross hematuria includes cystoscopy and Computed Tomography Urography (CTU). READ MORE

  4. 4. On the diagnosis and treatment of upper urinary tract stones

    Author : Klas Lindqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : renal stone; ureteric stone; ESWL; ureteroscopy; morbidity; questionnaire; computed tomography; urography;

    Abstract : Aims: Papers I&II: To compare treatment outcome for renal stones treated with different ESWL-machines and treatment results of ESWL and ureteroscopy (URS) for ureteric stones. Paper III: To investigate the morbidity and incidence of acute renal colic and the proportion of patients with absolute and relative indications for immediate radiological examination. READ MORE

  5. 5. Visual grading evaluation of reconstruction methods and dose optimisation in abdominal Computed Tomography

    Author : Bharti Kataria; Michael Sandborg; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hannibal Sökjer; Håkan Geijer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Since its introduction in the 1970’s CT has emerged as a modality of choice because of its high sensitivity in producing accurate diagnostic images. A third of all Computed Tomography (CT) examinations are abdominal CTs which deliver one of the highest doses among common examinations. READ MORE
