21. Modeling the effects of knots in Structural Timber
Abstract : The main purpose of the pursued research is to increase knowledge of the effects of knots in structural timber so that characteristics of weaker timber may be determined and applied to improve current grading techniques. In the process, a three-dimensional fiber paradigm was established, which describes variations of local principle material axes in timber containing knots. READ MORE

22. Dynamic properties of two pedestrian timber bridges : Experimental and numerical analysis at several stages of construction
Abstract : Pedestrian bridges can beneficially be made from timber in order for our society to reach a sustainable future. This positive development is partly made possible due to advances in engineered wood products (e.g. glued laminated timber) and the possibilities for pre-fabrication of structural parts. READ MORE

23. Product quality through experience feedback in industrialised housing
Abstract : This thesis is based on four appended papers and an introductory section. The work has been conducted with a focus on product quality and feedback. Hypothetically, industrialised housing gives better product quality and improved control in production. READ MORE

24. Moisture-related properties of modified timber - an experimental study
Abstract : Wood has long traditions as a structural and building material. In those cases in which its natural features are not sufficient, chemical modification can eliminate some shortcomings. READ MORE

25. Architectural aspects of massive timber : structural form and systems
Abstract : The hypothesis of this thesis is that there are rational, technical and architectural gains to be made from interactively developed architectural and structural utilisation of massive timber plates. The aim is to study and describe architectural features of structural applications of massive timber and ways to utilise and develop timber-based plates in building applications by combining an architectural and a structural engineering perspective.
