  1. 1. Adaptation of wave power plants to regions with high tides

    Author : Mohd Nasir Ayob; Rafael Waters; Johan Abrahamsson; Ian Masters; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wave energy; Tides; Wave Hub; Lysekil research site; Control system; Tidal compensator; Wave energy converter.; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : The wave energy converter (WEC) developed at Uppsala University is based on the concept of a heaving point absorber with a linear generator placed on the seafloor. The translator inside the generator oscillates in a linear fashion and is connected via a steel wire to a point absorbing buoy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sea Level Compensation System for Wave Energy Converters

    Author : Valeria Castellucci; Rafael Waters; Ronan Costello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Ocean energy; Tides; Linear generator; Point absorber; Offshore experiment; Hydro-mechanic modeling; Power absorption; Control system; Communication system; Measurement system; Lysekil research site; Wave Hub.;

    Abstract : The wave energy converter developed at Uppsala University consists of a linear generator at the seabed driven by the motion of a buoy on the water surface. The energy absorbed by the generator is negatively affected by variations of the mean sea level caused by tides, changes in barometric pressure, strong winds, and storm surges. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy

    Author : Ali Al Sam; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : wind-wave; swell; atmospheric boundary layer; marine atmospheric boundary layer; atmospheric turbulence; Large-eddy simulation; actuator line; wind sea; offshore technology; wind energy; wind turbine; aerodynamic;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 4. 4. Wave energy converter: hydrodynamics and control

    Author : Tatiana Potapenko; Irina Temiz; Cecilia Boström; Sandra Eriksson; Halvar Gravråkmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Waves, just like wind and solar radiation, is a widely available renewable energy source. Waves are created when winds move across the sea surface. The estimated potential of wave energy is abundant, but the commercial harvesting technologies are still in their infancy. READ MORE
