    Abstract : This thesis consists of three self-contained papers that all relate to the understanding of equality. The first chapter investigates the effects of preschool attendance on children in Kenya and Tanzania. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance Verifications Using APT Measurements

    University dissertation from Stockholm : US-AB

    Author : Abubeker Worake Ahmed; KTH.; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap; Flexible Pavement; Pavement Performance Models; Multilayer Elastic Theory; Linear Viscoelasticity; Rutting; Accelerated Pavement Testing; Heavy Vehicle Simulator; Road: Pavement design; Road: Pavement design; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 3. 3. Weld Pool Simulations

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Department of Mathematical Sciences

    Author : Marcus Edstorp; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods; MATHEMATICS Applied mathematics; MATEMATIK Tillämpad matematik; TECHNOLOGY Industrial engineering and economy Manufacturing engineering and work sciences Manufacturing engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Industriell teknik och ekonomi Produktion och arbetsvetenskap Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : This investigation is devoted to the study of welding and its effect on the workpiece, focusing on the thermo and fluid dynamical phenomena occuring during a autogenous or nonautogenous arc fusion welding process. Its aim is to simulate the behaviour of the weld pool and analyze the consequence of the solid-liquid phase change, thus obtaining a methodology for predicting the appearance of weld defects related to solidification and cooling. Abstract : Traffic related trauma is the main cause of child fatality and injury in Europe and North America, with the large majority of fatalities and injuries occurring to children in cars. Specifically, head injury is a common outcome in injury causing car accidents. READ MORE

  5. 5. Reproducing kernels and potential theory for the Bergman spaces

    University dissertation from Lund University

    Author : Yolanda Perdomo Gallipoli; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; weighted biharmonic Green function Gaussian curvature; Naturvetenskap; harmonic compensator; Natural science; weighted super-biharmonic function; potential metric; mean value property; weighted Bergman kernel;

    Abstract : The role of weighted biharmonic Green functions in weighted Bergman spaces was first studied in the beginning of the 50's by Paul Garabedian. In 1951 he showed that they are closely related to reproducing kernel functions of weighted Bergman spaces. READ MORE
