  1. 1. Pinhole Camera Calibration in the Presence of Human Noise

    Author : Magnus Axholt; Matthew Cooper; Anders Ynnerman; J. Edward Swan II; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The research work presented in this thesis is concerned with the analysis of the human body as a calibration platform for estimation of a pinhole camera model used in Augmented Reality environments mediated through Optical See-Through Head-Mounted Display. Since the quality of the calibration ultimately depends on a subject’s ability to construct visual alignments, the research effort is initially centered around user studies investigating human-induced noise, such as postural sway and head aiming precision. 2. 2. Touching the Essence of Life : Haptic Virtual Proteins for Learning

    Author : Petter Bivall; Anders Ynnerman; Lena A. E. Tibell; Matthew D. Cooper; Miriam Reiner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Haptics; Educational Research; Biomolecular Education; Life Science; JND; Just Noticeable Difference; Protein-ligand Docking; Haptic docking; Visualization; Haptic Transfer Functions; Volume Data Haptics; History Dependent Transfer Function; Log file analysis; Molecular Recognition; Force Feedback; Virtual Reality; Other information technology; Övrig informationsteknik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents research in the development and use of a multi-modal visual and haptic virtual model in higher education. The model, named Chemical Force Feedback (CFF), represents molecular recognition through the example of protein-ligand docking, and enables students to simultaneously see and feel representations of the protein and ligand molecules and their force interactions. 3. 3. Efficient Information Visualization of Multivariate and Time-Varying Data

    Author : Jimmy Johansson; Mikael Jern; Matthew Cooper; Helwig Hauser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information visualization; parallel coordinates; interactive analysis; multivariate data; time-varying data; GPU; hardware graphics; Computer science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Data can be found everywhere, for example in the form of price, size, weight and colour of all products sold by a company, or as time series of daily observations of temperature, precipitation, wind and visibility from thousands of stations. Due to their size and complexity it is intrinsically hard to form a global overview and understanding of them. READ MORE

  4. 4. Haptic Interaction with Deformable Objects

    Author : Umut Kocak; Matthew Cooper; Karljohan Lundin Palmerius; Miguel Otaduy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The integration of haptics into virtual environments has triggered a new era by allowing interaction with virtual objects through force feedback in a number of fields. Medicine has been the field with highest potential benefit through improved realism and immersion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Direct Volume Haptics for Visualization

    Author : Karljohan Lundin Palmerius; Anders Ynnerman; Matthew Cooper; David Ebert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Haptic Visualization; Volumetric Data; Haptic Primitives; Shape Representations; Time-varying Data; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : Visualization is the process of making something perceptible to the mind or imagination. The techniques for producing visual imagery of volumetric data have advanced immensely during the last decades to a point where each produced image can include an overwhelming amount of information.
