  1. 1. Evaluation of Capillary Flow in Gels - The Liquid Uptake of Capillaries and Gelation Mechanisms in Alginate Gels

    Author : Johanna Andersson; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alginate gel; capillary action; Capillary flow;

    Abstract : For centuries it has been known that wetting liquids penetrate porous materials if the pores are sufficiently small. In some cases the liquid penetration is desired, like in kitchen paper or diapers, in other systems the penetration should be minimised or avoided, like in water repellent textiles or paper printing. 2. 2. Exploring new strategies of controlling DNA binding

    Author : Johanna Andersson; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Abstract Due to the increasing knowledge about DNA structure and function, as well as the fact that the sequence of the human genome is now known, DNA becomes more and more interesting as a drug target, especially for treatment of genetic diseases and cancer, but also for treatment of diseases caused by pathogens. However, one of the major challenges is to achieve specificity - in the case of genetic diseases to uniquely target a specific gene and in the case of the cancer and pathogens to target specific cells. 3. 3. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Pathogenetic mechanisms, phenotypic characterization and prognosis

    Author : Johanna Andersson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastrointestinal stromal tumor GIST ; neurofibromatosis type I NF1 ; mutation; prognosis; denaturating high performance liquid chromatography dHPLC ; sequencing; KIT; PDGFRA; NF1;

    Abstract : Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), the most common non-epithelial neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract, has historically been problematic both conceptually and clinically. Recently, GIST has been shown to share phenotypic features with the interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC), including the almost uniform expression of the tyrosine kinase receptor KIT. READ MORE

  4. 4. Locked-in collaboration

    University dissertation from Göteborg : School of Public Administration, University of Gothenburg

    Author : Johanna Andersson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2016]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Offentliga sektorn; Samarbete; Arbetslivsinriktad rehabilitering; Vocational rehabilitation; Cooperation; Cooperativeness; Public administration; Sverige;

    Abstract : Collaboration, employed in defining a problem, finding a solution, and implementing it, has been proposed as a solution to a range of problems framed as wicked or complex. Collaboration can be justified based on instrumental, normative, and value-based reasoning. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structural Requirements for Selective DNA Binding - Studies on Mono- and Binuclear Ruthenium Complexes

    University dissertation from Göteborg : School of Public Administration, University of Gothenburg

    Author : Johanna Andersson; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium; enantioselectivity; sequence selectivity; spectroscopy; threading intercalation; calorimetry; kinetics; DNA; cell studies;

    Abstract : Ever since the discovery of the role of DNA as the template for protein synthesis, efforts have been made to develop DNA targeted drugs. One of the major challenges in the design of DNA binding drugs is to achieve selective binding to specific DNA sequences, which is crucial to avoid side effects. READ MORE
