1. Mille-feuille Filter : A Non-woven Nano-cellulose Based Virus Removal Filter for Bioprocessing
Abstract : Virus removal filters, produced from synthetic surface-modified polymers or regenerated cellulose by phase inversion, are vital to the production of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies and plasma proteins. Use of these filters is also one of the most expensive purification steps in the downstream processing of proteins due to high sales price and being limited to a single use. READ MORE

2. Tailoring the magnetic order in mesoscopic spin systems
Abstract : Mesoscopic spin systems can be designed and fabricated using modern nano-fabrication techniques. These systems can contain large numbers of patterned ferromagnetic elements, for which the shape will generally determine their effective mesospin dimensionality. READ MORE

3. Growth and Characterization of Core-Branch Nanowire Structures
Abstract : This thesis investigates growth of III – V semiconductor nanowire (NW) arrays, in a core- branch architecture, with the aim to develop diffusion driven light emitting diodes (LED) on NWs. Diffusion driven LEDs are based on the concept of decoupling the active region from the p-n junction. READ MORE

4. Quantum information processing with tunable and low-loss superconducting circuits
Abstract : The perhaps most promising platform for quantum information processing is the circuit-QED architecture based on superconducting circuits representing quantum bits. These circuits must be made with low losses so that the quantum information is retained for as long as possible. READ MORE

5. Vertical III-V Nanowire Transistors for Low-Power Logic and Reconfigurable Applications
Abstract : With rapid increase in energy consumption of electronics used in our daily life, the building blocks — transistors — need to work in a way that has high energy efficiency and functional density to meet the demand of further scaling. III-V channel combined with vertical nanowire gate-all-around (GAA) device architecture is a promising alternative to conventional Si transistors due to its excellent electrical properties in the channel and electrostatic control across the gate oxide in addition to reduced footprint.
