    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Living kidney donor; Kidney transplantation; Motives; Information; Decision-making; Glomerular filtration rate; Laparoscopic nephrectomy;

    Abstract : Aim Nephrectomy performed on healthy individuals for the purpose of transplantation is an exceptional activity. It confers great responsibilities to the medical staff involved. Potential donors must be carefully informed and assessed with respect to medical and psychosocial aspects. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Study on Endoscopic Live Donor Nephrectomy and Elevated Intraperitoneal Pressure

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Pernilla Lindström; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Candesartan; cardiac output; glomerular filtration rate; hand-assisted laparoscopy; hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopy; kidney; living donor nephrectomy; morbidity; pneumoperitoneum; rat; renal transplantation; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Live donor nephrectomy (LDN) is a unique surgical challenge where surgery is performed on healthy individuals. It is of great importance to keep the morbidity of donors as low as possible, as well as harvesting a kidney in optimal condition. Lowering morbidity is the motive for introducing the endoscopic technique in LDN. READ MORE

    Abstract : The widespread use of medical imaging contributes to the increased detection of incidentally detected small renal tumors, a majority which are often indolent masses found in elderly patients with preexisting chronic kidney disease. In Sweden, partial nephrectomy with minimal invasive surgical approach is the current standard for removing these tumors, although another option is percutaneous image-guided tumor ablation that allows treatment of elderly patients with comorbidities for who surgery is a risk.
