    Abstract : The goal of inquiry in this essay is to ascertain to what extent the Principle of Compositionality – the thesis that the meaning of a complex expression is determined by the meaning of its parts and its mode of composition – can be justifiably imposed as a constraint on semantic theories, and thereby provide information about what meanings are. Apart from the introduction (Chapter One) and the concluding chapter (Chapter Seven) the thesis is divided into five chapters addressing different questions pertaining to the overarching goal of inquiry. 2. 2. Simple principles of cognitive computation with distributed representations

    Author : Blerim Emruli; Serge Thill; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : Brains and computers represent and process sensory information in different ways. Bridgingthat gap is essential for managing and exploiting the deluge of unprocessed andcomplex data in modern information systems. READ MORE

    Abstract : Privacy mechanism design is an important research area and is receiving increased attention in recent years. This field focuses on addressing the challenge of revealing general data that might have correlations with sensitive information, all while protecting this sensitive information against unauthorized access. 5. 5. Multilingual text generation from structured formal representations

    Author : Dana Dannélls; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherence; computational linguistics; coreference; corpus linguistics discourse structure; knowledge representation; language technology; lexical semantics; linked open data; multilingual natural language generation; natural language processing; ontology; semantic web.;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to identify the optimal ways in which natural language generation techniques can be brought to bear upon the problem of processing a structured body of information in order to devise a coherent presentation of text content in multiple languages. We investigate how chains of referential expressions are realized in English, Swedish and Hebrew, and suggest several coreference strategies that can be used to generate coherent descriptions about paintings.
