  1. 1. Ultrasound prediction of large fetuses. Epidemiological and clinical investigations

    University dissertation from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lund University

    Author : Gun Lindell; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Two-dimensional ultrasound; three-dimensional ultrasound; fetus; intrauterine growth; maternal characteristic; large-for-gestational age; antenatal calculation; Bayesian theorem; fetal weight; estimation; post-term fetus; fetal macrosomia;

    Abstract : The proportions of newborns with a birth weight (BW) >4,000 g and of macrosomic newborns (BW >4,500 g) have increased during the last two decades, parallel with an increasing maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and age at the time for pregnancy. Delivery of a large fetus, especially >4,500 g might cause perinatal complications for both the mother and her child. READ MORE

  2. 2. Human fetal cerebral circulation - Perinatal Doppler velocimetry and fetal pulse oximetry studies

    University dissertation from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lund University

    Author : Alf Maesel; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; pulse oximetry; neonate; labor; fetus; Cerebrovascular circulation; Doppler ultrasound; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish En majoritet av sk förlossningsskador med tecken på syrebrist i hjärnan uppstår troligen inte i samband med förlossning utan inträffar under graviditeten, ofta av okänt ursprung. Förlossningen är dock en stressituation med ökat krav på god blod- och syretillförsel till fostret. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fetal Cardiac Function and Venous Circulation - Experiences with Velocity Vector Imaging

    University dissertation from Research Unit for Urogynaecology and Reproductive Pharmacology

    Author : Charlotte Dahlbäck; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pregnancy; fetus; strain; speckle tracking; cardiac function; umbilical vein; venous; ductus venosus; Doppler;

    Abstract : Placental dysfunction resulting in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is a common complication of pregnany and severe IUGR, with ensuing fetal hypoxia is an important cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Doppler studies of fetal and maternal vessels are routinely used for fetal surveillance and alterations in fetal venous blood flow has been demonstrated as a late sign of fetal compromise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Doppler Velocimetry in the Evaluation of Fetal Well-Being

    University dissertation from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lund University

    Author : Mariusz Dubiel; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; perinatal outcome; physiology; fetus; Doppler velocimetry; Color Doppler Energy; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : Ultrasound Doppler velocimetry was used to predict fetal well-being. The uterine artery blood velocimetry seemed to be a good predictor of perinatal outcome in high-risk pregnancies and a complement to umbilical artery velocimetry. The fetal middle cerebral artery blood velocimetry might be an early sign of fetal hypoxia. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ultrasound as predictor of perinatal outcome

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Gisela Ghosh; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Doppler; Ultrasound; fetus; amniotic fluid index; nuchal cord; uterine artery; umbilical vein; fetal growth restriction; umbilical artery; pulsation; pregnancy;

    Abstract : The aim of the work described in this thesis was to evaluate the value of ultrasound examinations of the amniotic fluid, umbilical cord and blood flow velocity waveform of the fetal and placental vessels as predictors of the perinatal outcome. In the first study, the amniotic fluid index (AFI) measured on admission to the labour ward was evaluated in low-risk pregnancies. READ MORE
