  1. 1. Endothelin-1-immunoreactive protein and neuroendocrine differentiation and nerve supply in human non-neoplastic and neoplastic adrenal cortex : Immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, and biochemical findings

    Author : Qing Li; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; adrenal cortex; human; endothelin-related protein; innervation; neuroendocrinedifferentiation; immunohistochemistry; electron microscopy; biochemistry; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence and distribution of endothelin (ET)-1-immunoreactive (ir) protein, neuro-endocrine markers and neurohormonal peptides in endocrine cells and nerves in human non-neoplastic and neoplastic adrenal cortex are described.ET-1-ir cell groups were regularly seen in human adrenal cortex, mainly in zona fasciculata, but not in the medulla. 2. 2. Markers of differentiation and prognosis in prostate cancer : a morphological and immunohistochemical study

    Author : Axel Glaessgen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignancy in men worldwide. The disease shows a wide range of patient outcome between indolent and highly aggressive tumor behavior. Prognostic factors are needed to stratify PCa patients in different prognostic groups for treatment decision and to predict outcome. READ MORE

  3. 3. Intratumoral Predictive Markers in Metastatic Renal Cancer Patients

    Author : Marjut Niinivirta; Gustav Ullenhag; Gunilla Enblad; Sten Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renal cell cancer; predictive marker; tyrosine kinase inhibitor; tissue microarray; cubilin; annexin A1; PKLR; ELTD1; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : There is no established predictive marker for the treatment of metastatic renal cell cancer (mRCC) patients. With a predictive marker, patients unlikely to respond could be selected upfront and offered other therapy options. Thereby, unnecessary toxicity could be avoided and costs would be reduced. 4. 4. Angiogenesis Related Markers In Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Author : Daniel Brattström; Ola Brodin; Gunnar Wagenius; Torgny Rasmusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Lung cancer; NSCLC; Therapy; Angiogenesis; VEGF; bFGF; Microvessel density; Survival; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated the predictive and the prognostic powers of angiogenesis related markers in both operable and inoperable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.In the first and second study, we investigated the serological fractions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in 2 cohorts of patients with either operable or inoperable NSCLC. 5. 5. HPV and potential prognostic markers in primary vaginal carcinoma

    Author : Cecilia Ranhem; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this PhD thesis is to evaluate HPV status and immunohistochemical expression of different biomarkers, including tumor suppressor p16, proliferation marker Ki67, molecular markers in the LRIG family, WRAP53ß, and dyskerin as well as immune markers CD4+ and CD8+ TILs, and their correlation to clinical manifestations and survival as part of a search for potential prognostic factors in women diagnosed with primary vaginal cancer. Paper I evaluates the presence of HPV in vaginal cancer tumor samples, as well as immunohistochemical expression of p16 and Ki-67. READ MORE
