  1. 1. Over-the-Air Performance Estimation of Wireless Device Antennas

    Author : Sathyaveer Prasad; Peter Händel; Gert Frölund Pedersen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis work presents studies on the available measurement methods for estimating the over-the-air (OTA) performance of wireless device antennas. This thesis is divided into two parts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modeling and Compensation of Nonlinear Distortion in Multi-Antenna RF Transmitters

    Author : Katharina Hausmair; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-antenna transmitter; behavioral modeling; over-the-air characterization; digital predistortion; antenna crosstalk; linearization; power amplifier;

    Abstract : Multi-antenna systems are utilized as a way to increase spectral efficiency in wireless communications. In a transmitter, the use of several parallel transmit paths and antennas increases system complexity and cost. Cost-efficient solutions, which employ active antenna arrays and avoid expensive isolators, are therefore preferred. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of MIMO Antennas and Terminals: Measurements in Reverberation Chambers

    Author : Chen Xiaoming; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; channel characterization; Reverberation chamber; measurement uncertainty.; maximum ratio combining MRC diversity gain; multiple-input multiple-output MIMO capacity;

    Abstract : The reverberation chamber (RC) has drawn attention as a multipath emulator over the past decade for both passive and active over-the-air (OTA) tests. The overview of this thesis is given in Chapter 1. READ MORE

  4. 4. Characterization and Design Requirements for Antennas in the Near-field and the Random-LOS Propagation Environment

    Author : Aidin Razavi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polarization-MIMO; Random-LOS; OTA; Antenna measurements; near-field antennas; antenna characterization; MIMO; near-field focusing;

    Abstract : The choice of antenna for a particular application depends on the requirements imposed by that application. These can be, the application's field region (i.e., near-field or far-field), polarization, radiation pattern, radiation efficiency, system throughput, etc. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of Small Antennas & Wireless Devices for MIMO Systems in Multipath & Line-of-Sight

    Author : Ahmed Hussain; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; USRP; OTA; SDR; RIMP; TRP; TIS; Reverberation chamber; Rayleigh; MIMO; LOS; LTE; Throughput;

    Abstract : The current thesis investigates over-the-air (OTA) performance characterization of small antennas and wireless terminals in rich isotropic multipath (RIMP) environment, as well as in pure line-of-sight (LOS) environment when taking into account the random positions and orientations of the mobile terminals caused by the realistic user behavior. The latest mobile wireless terminals such as smart phones and tablets can be used in any random orientation thereby making even a received LOS-component appear as a random voltage at the antenna ports over time.
