  1. 1. Decision-making in SME internationalization : The role and use of Control in decisions made under the uncertainties of foreign market expansion

    Author : Luis Oliveira; Martin Johanson; Carin Nordström; Katarina Blomkvist; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SME internationalization; non-predictive strategy; control-based strategy; environmental uncertainty; international market performance; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make the backbone of virtually all economies but most of them are only marginally engaged with global markets, particularly those from developing countries. Our ability to advise these firms is currently limited for two major reasons: on the one hand, conventional International Business literature treats the firm as a black box and does not advance in decision-making dynamics that are critical to SMEs' foreign expansion; on the other, recent SME internationalization studies have achieved important progress but seem dependent on the use of Effectuation theory to represent the decisions that guide SME internationalization. 2. 2. Network Synchronization and Control Based on Inverse Optimality : A Study of Inverter-Based Power Generation

    Author : Taouba Jouini; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; networked systems; coupled oscillator synchronization; inverse optimal robust control; power systems; inverter control;

    Abstract : This thesis dwells upon the synthesis of system-theoretical tools to understand and control the behavior of nonlinear networked systems. This work is at the crossroads of three topics: synchronization in coupled high-order oscillators, inverse optimal control and the application of inverter-based power systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Selected Aspects of Navigation and Path Planning in Unmanned Aircraft Systems

    Author : Mariusz Wzorek; Andrzej Szałas; Jacek Malec; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Path planning; motion planning; autonomous Unmanned Aircraft Systems UAS ; Hierarchical Concurrent State Machines HCSM ; UAV;

    Abstract : Unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) are an important future technology with early generations already being used in many areas of application encompassing both military and civilian domains. This thesis proposes a number of integration techniques for combining control-based navigation with more abstract path planning functionality for UASs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Design and optimization of parallel haptic devices : Design methodology and experimental evaluation

    Author : Suleman Khan; Kjell Andersson; Jan Wikander; Ölvander Johan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical simulation; 6-DOF haptic devices; design methodology.; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : The simulation of surgical procedures, in the case of hard tissues such as bone or teeth milling, using a haptic milling surgery simulator requires a haptic device which can provide high stiffness and transparency. To mimic a real milling process of hard tissue, such as for example creating a narrow channel or cavity, the simulator needs to provide force/torque feedback in 5–6 degrees of freedom (DOF). 5. 5. Energy Efficient Air Quality Solutions for Vehicle Cabins

    Author : Dixin Wei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; climate system; private car; measurements; particulate matters; CO2; simulations; air quality; air filter; UFP; filter status; energy use; vehicle cabin;

    Abstract : Maintaining a good air quality level is essential for reducing potential health risks for human beings. Vehicle cabin is one common environment where people spend increasing amount of time in modern societies. It’s an environment challenged by elevated pollutants from surrounding traffics, especially small particles like PM2. READ MORE
