1. Fuel-efficient driving strategies
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with fuel-efficient driving strategies for vehicles driving on roads with varying topography, as well as estimation of road grade and vehicle mass for vehicles utilizing such strategies. A framework referred to as speed profile optimization (SPO), is introduced for reducing the fuel or energy consumption of single vehicles (equipped with either combustion or electric engines) and platoons of several vehicles. 2. Look-ahead control for fuel-efficient and safe heavy-duty vehicle platooning
Abstract : The operation of heavy-duty vehicles at small inter-vehicular distances, known as platoons, lowers the aerodynamic drag and, therefore, reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Tests conducted on flat roads have shown the potential of platooning to reduce the fuel consumption of about 10%. READ MORE

3. Fuel-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicle Platooning
Abstract : The freight transport industry faces big challenges as the demand for transport and fuel prices are steadily increasing, whereas the environmental impact needs to be significantly reduced. Heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) platooning is a promising technology for a sustainable transportation system. READ MORE

4. Fuel-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicle Platoon Formation
Abstract : There is a need for intelligent freight transport solutions as the demand for road freight transport is continuously increasing while carbon footprint needs to be significantly reduced. Heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) platooning is one potential solution to partially mitigate the environmental impacts as well as to reduce fuel consumption, improve traffic safety, and increase traffic throughput on congested highways. 5. Fuel-Efficient Distributed Control for Heavy Duty Vehicle Platooning
Abstract : Freight transport demand has escalated and will continue to do so as economiesgrow. As the traffic intensity increases, the drivers are faced with increasinglycomplex tasks and traffic safety is a growing issue. Simultaneously, fossil fuel usageis escalating. Heavy duty vehicle (HDV) platooning is a plausible solution to theseissues. READ MORE
