16. Plasma Interactions with Icy Bodies in the Solar System
Abstract : Here I study the “plasma interactions with icy bodies in the solar system”, that is, my quest to understand the fundamental processes that govern such interactions. By using numerical modelling combined with in situ observations, one can infer the internal structure of icy bodies and their plasma environments. READ MORE

17. Waves in space plasmas : Lower hybrid cavities and simple-pole distribution functions
Abstract : Waves are a fundamental feature in many parts of physics, since they transport energy without transporting matter. This is the case also in space physics. Waves are responsible for energy transport both between different parts of space and between different particles in the space plasma. READ MORE

18. Substorm Features in the High-Latitude Ionosphere and Magnetosphere : Multi-Instrument Observations
Abstract : The space around Earth, confined in the terrestrial magnetosphere, is to some extent shielded from the Sun's solar wind plasma and magnetic field. During certain conditions, however, strong interaction can occur between the solar wind and the magnetosphere, resulting in magnetospheric activity of several forms, among which substorms and storms are the most prominent. 19. Resonant Waves in the Terrestrial Magnetosphere
Abstract : Waves in the mHz frequency range are a prominent feature in the terrestrial magnetosphere. In this frequency range the waves have wavelengths comparable to the lengths of the geomagnetic field lines. The waves are then standing waves along closed field lines with endpoints in the southern and northern ionosphere. READ MORE

20. Energization and Acceleration of Dayside Polar Outflowing Oxygen
Abstract : This thesis deals with energetic oxygen ions (i.e. single-charged atomic oxygen ions, O+) at altitudes higher than 5 Earth radii (RE) and at latitudes above 75 (toward 90) degrees invariant latitude (deg ILAT) in the dayside polar magnetosphere observed by Cluster. READ MORE
