  1. 1. Resource Conservative Manufacturing : New Generation of Manufacturing

    Author : Farazee Mohammad Abdullah Asif; Mihai Nicolescu; Carmine Bianchi; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Resource Conservative Manufacturing; Multiple Lifecycle; System Dynamics;

    Abstract : The question of resource scarcity and emerging pressure of environmentallegislations have put the manufacturing industry with a new challenge. On theone side, there is a huge population that demands a large quantity ofcommodities, on the other side, these demands have to be met by minimumresources and with permissible pollution that the earth’s ecosystem can handle. Abstract : Globalization increases the competition among small and medium sized companies. It is possible for their customers, often large systems integrators, to choose suppliers from all around the world. Swedish suppliers are often not competitive only regarding cost consequently simple work tasks are more and more located in low wage countries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Managing Interruptions in Manufacturing : Towards a Theoretical Framework for Interruptions in Manufacturing Assembly

    Author : Ari Kolbeinsson; Dan Högberg; Peter Thorvald; Jessica Lindblom; Steve Summerskill; Högskolan i Skövde; []

    Abstract : The effect of interruptions from ICT systems on assembly workers in manufacturing is examined in this thesis, as is how the risks of errors, increases in assembly time, increased cognitive load and resultant stress can be mitigated, as well as ensuring that important new information is acted upon. To these ends, a literature study was conducted, followed by two studies using an experimental approach in an environment that simulated a manufacturing assembly situation, and used tasks designed to be representative of manufacturing assembly tasks.
