1. Dyslexics' phonological processing in relation to speech perception
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to investigate phonological processing skills in dyslexic children and adults and their relation to speech perception. Dyslexia can be studied at various levels: at a biological, cognitive and an environmental level. This thesis mainly looks at environmental and cognitive factors. READ MORE

2. Natural Language Processing for Low-resourced Code-switched Colloquial Languages – The Case of Algerian Language
Abstract : In this thesis we explore to what extent deep neural networks (DNNs), trained end-to-end, can be used to perform natural language processing tasks for code-switched colloquial languages lacking both large automated data and processing tools, for instance tokenisers, morpho-syntactic and semantic parsers, etc. We opt for an end-to-end learning approach because this kind of data is hard to control due to its high orthographic and linguistic variability. 3. A robust text processing technique applied to lexical error recovery
Abstract : This thesis addresses automatic lexical error recovery and tokenization of corrupt text input. We propose a technique that can automatically correct misspellings, segmentation errors and real-word errors in a unified framework that uses both a model of language production and a model of the typing behavior, and which makes tokenization part of the recovery process. 4. On Speech-to-Text Alignment, Phonetic Labeling, and Recursive Signal Processing
Abstract : Speech data-bases are an important issue in the study of speech communication. In particular, time-aligned and phonetically labeled speech data-bases are useful during the design of applications such as speech recognizers. The time-alignment and labeling of the speech data is traditionally done manually. READ MORE

5. Modelling Paralinguistic Conversational Interaction : Towards social awareness in spoken human-machine dialogue
Abstract : Parallel with the orthographic streams of words in conversation are multiple layered epiphenomena, short in duration and with a communicativepurpose. These paralinguistic events regulate the interaction flow via gaze, gestures and intonation. READ MORE
