  1. 6. Design, Synthesis And Characterization Of Magnetic Ferrite Nanostructures : Toward Novel Permanent Magnets

    Author : Pierfrancesco Maltoni; Roland Mathieu; Adrian Quesada; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanosystems; magnetic interactions; magnetism; ferrites; materials science; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Magnetic oxide nanoparticles (NPs) may interact with each-other for example via dipolar or superexchange interactions, depending whether they are in direct contact. These interparticle interactions yield both ferro- and/or antiferromagnetic coupling and modify the energy barrier of the magnetic particle, depending upon the strength of the coupling and orientation of the particles. 2. 7. The character of magnetic records of deformed soft sediments with emphasis on liquefaction structures

    Author : Guangyu Sun; Nils Axel Mörner; Don Tarling; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetism; sediments; deformation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : In this thesis the characteristics of magnetic records in deformed soft sediments during postglacial time in Sweden are studied. Magnetic records refer in this study to magnetic remanence (NRM and ChRM) and susceptibility, including its anisotropy (AMS). READ MORE

  3. 8. Setting the Holocene clock using varved lake sediments in Sweden

    Author : Lovisa Zillén; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; Physical geography; tephrochronology; palaeomagnetic secular variations; radiocarbon time-scale; Holocene varved lake sediments; varve chronology; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study annually laminated (varved) Holocene lake sediment in Sweden, their formation and their potential as chronological and palaeoecological archives. Five lakes with continuous Holocene varved lake sediment sequences in northern (Västerbotten) and west central Sweden (Värmland) were investigated. READ MORE
