  1. 1. Conditional and non-conditional reward-related responses to alcohol. Nicotinic mechanisms

    Author : Elin Löf; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ethanol; nicotine; ventral tegmental area; nucleus accumbens; dopamine; nicotinic acetylcholine receptor; gamma-amino-butyric acid receptor A; conditioned reinforcement; in vivo microdialysis; rat;

    Abstract : The mesolimbic dopamine system is believed to mediate the positive reinforcing and rewarding effects of addictive drugs by increasing dopamine levels in its terminal area, the nucleus accumbens (nAc). Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) within this system appear important for the pharmacological actions of both alcohol and nicotine, which may explain the frequent co-abuse of these two drugs. 2. 2. Hierarchical cellulosic reinforcement for composites: enhanced resistance to moisture and compatibility with polymers

    University dissertation from Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Abdelghani Hajlane; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : Cellulosic fibres (flax, hemp, regenerated cellulose) possess decent mechanical properties and they are gaining interest as an alternative to synthetic reinforcement (e.g. glass fibres) in polymers to reduce the petroleum consumption and pollution. READ MORE

  3. 3. Learning and memory in moths - plasticity in behaviour and neurophysiology

    University dissertation from Chemical Ecology and Ecotoxicology, Department of Biology, Lund University

    Author : Ruey-Jane Fan; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proboscis extension reflex PER ; LTM; MTM; STM; memory; inter-trial-interval ITI ; inter-stimulus interval ISI ; US; CS; olfaction; Associative learning; classical conditioning; discrimination; the US pathway; Ecology; Ekologi; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The moth, Spodoptera littoralis, was demonstrated to be a new model system for studying mechanisms underlying odour conditioning. In the experiments a restrained moth was trained to learn an association between a conditioned stimulus (CS) and an unconditioned stimulus (US). READ MORE

  4. 4. Reactive extrusion of wood-thermoplastic composites

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Göran Grubbström; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Trä och bionanokompositer; Wood and Bionanocomposites;

    Abstract : The interest in Wood-thermoplastic composites (WPCs) has increased during the last decades. WPCs are commonly used as building material for decking and railing because of its low need of maintenance. Wood is a renewable resource of good mechanical properties and this make wood fibers interesting to use as reinforcement in a thermoplastic composite. READ MORE

  5. 5. Glucagon-like peptide-1 and alcohol-mediated behaviors in rodents

    University dissertation from Göteborgs universitet

    Author : Daniel Vallöf; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2019]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Addiction; Dopamine; Gut-brain axis; Reward;

    Abstract : Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a serious cause of morbidity and mortality. However, due to the limited efficacy of existing pharmacotherapies, further investigations of potential neurochemical targets are required to define new pharmacological interventions. READ MORE
