  1. 1. Swash Processes and Dune Erosion: Emphasis on Vessel-Generated Waves

    University dissertation from Lund University (Media-Tryck)

    Author : Li Erikson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering; geomorfologi; Fysisk geografi; climatology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Naturvetenskap; Physical geography; Natural science; swash; erosion; vessel-generated waves; dunes; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : In navigable waterways, owing to the relatively short fetches for wind wave generation, the free waves generated by moving vessels often produce the dominant wave action with respect to erosion of the shore. In response to the fairly recent introduction of high-speed ferries, combined with a planned expansion within the passenger- and car-carrying ship market, the need to model and predict coastline changes as a result of exposure to vessel-generated waves has become a topic of increased research. 2. 2. Coastal Overwash: Processes and Modelling

    University dissertation from Lund University (Media-Tryck)

    Author : Chantal Donnelly; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; overwash; washover; hurricane impacts; dune erosion; barrier islands;

    Abstract : Overwash is the flow of water and sediment over the crest of a beach system when the runup level of waves or the water level, often enhanced by storm surge, exceeds the local beach or dune crest height. The impacts of overwash on coastal barriers or low lying mainland coasts are striking. READ MORE

  3. 3. Long-term beach and dune evolution : Development and application of the CS-model

    University dissertation from Water Resources Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Caroline Hallin; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coastal processes; sediment transport; numerical modelling; Ängelholm Beach; Kennemer Dunes;

    Abstract : Coastal flooding and erosion are worldwide problems that are further aggravated by rising sea levels and increasing population densities in coastal areas. In many of those areas, sandy beaches and dunes protect thehinterland from waves and extreme water levels during storms, while providing natural and recreational values. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effect of climate and land use on niche utilization and distribution of nettle-feeding  butterflies

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Zoology, Stockholm University

    Author : Hélène Audusseau; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Anthropogenic changes in climate and land use are causing a dramatic erosion of biodiversity. To understand this erosion, and predict future transformations of biodiversity, we need to understand better species’ response to these changes at different spatial and temporal scales. READ MORE
