    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). Abstract : Bioanalytical chemistry is a challenging field, often involving complex samples, such as blood, plasma, serum or urine. In many applications, sample cleanup is the most demanding and time-consuming step. READ MORE

  3. 3. Model Based Coding : Initialization, Parameter Extraction and Evaluation

    Author : Zhengrong Yao; Haibo Li; Ralf Schäfer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Model-based coding; Motion estimation; Vision based tracking; Initialization; Analysis-by-Synthesis; Texture mapping; Active tracking.; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : This thesis covers topics relevant to model-based coding. Model-based coding is a promising very low bit rate video coding technique. The idea behind this technique is to parameterize a talking head and to extract and transmit the parameters describing facial movements. At the receiver, the parameters are used to reconstruct the talking head. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of dynamic microwave and sonication-assisted extraction techniques coupled on-line to gas chromatography

    Author : Magnus Ericsson; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the evaluation and construction of two solvent extraction methods for solid samples. The techniques are called Dynamic microwaveassisted extraction (I-III) and Dynamic sonication-assisted solvent extraction (IV-V). Both techniques are based on dynamic solvent extraction and are performed at elevated temperatures and pressures. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extraction and Energy Efficient Processing of Streaming Data
