  1. 1. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission

    Author : Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Ali Al-Adili; Mattias Lantz; Stephan Pomp; Olivier Serot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fission; isomeric yield ratio; angular momentum; independent fission yield; ion guide; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems. 2. 2. Benchmark of simulation of an ion guide for neutron-induced fission products

    Author : Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Johan Nyberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fission products; simulation; Geant4; GEF; MCNPX; neutron flux; gamma spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Independent yield distributions of high-energy neutron-induced fission are of importance to achieve a good understanding of fission. Even though the mass and charge yield distributions of thermal neutron-induced fission are well known, there are few experimental data for high-energy neutron-induced fission. READ MORE

  3. 3. Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals in InP-based Materials

    Author : Mikaël Mulot; KTH; []
    Keywords : Photonic crystals; photonic bandgap materials; indium phosphide; dry etching; chemically assisted ion beam etching; reactive ion etching; electron beam lithography; photonic integrated circuits; optical waveguides; resonant cavities; optical filterin;

    Abstract : Photonic crystals (PhCs) are structures periodic in thedielectric constant. They exhibit a photonic bandgap, i.e., arange of wavelengths for which light propagation is forbidden. READ MORE

  4. 4. Interaction of Calcium Ions with Lipid Membranes

    Author : Baharan Ali Doosti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phospholipid bilayer membrane; membrane dynamics; micromanipulation; calcium ions; cell migration.; membrane nanotube; membrane tubular protrusions; calcium ion concentration gradient; membrane bending; giant unilamellar vesicle;

    Abstract : Bilayer membranes enclose and shield the biological cell and its inner compartments, as well as the tubular networks that exist within and between the cells. Due to their fluidic nature, the membranes are incredibly dynamic and flexible, which allows them to bend, reshape and fuse in response to mechanical and chemical stimuli within their natural microenvironments. 5. 5. Partial methane oxidation from electronic structure calculations

    Author : Adam Arvidsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ZSM-5 zeolite; density functional theory; microkinetic modelling; Mo6S8 cluster; partial methane oxidation;

    Abstract : Investigating catalytic reactions with computational methods is a powerful approach to understand fundamental aspects of catalytic reactions and find ways to guide catalytic design. Partial methane oxidation is one example of a reaction with intriguing challenges, where a detailed atomistic approach may help to unravel the bottlenecks of this, as of yet, inefficient reaction.
